Something has happened to John Sandford。 After all of my reading of his books， I may have to give up on him。 After the very unnecessary death in the middle of the book， it was Iike someone else， or a team of someone else， wrote the rest of the book。 It was all tedious diving details and procedural junk， with very little interesting character info。 He used Virgil Flowers as an action figure and Rae as a sex object。 Lucas had no characterization in the second half of the book。 He was mainly on the Something has happened to John Sandford。 After all of my reading of his books， I may have to give up on him。 After the very unnecessary death in the middle of the book， it was Iike someone else， or a team of someone else， wrote the rest of the book。 It was all tedious diving details and procedural junk， with very little interesting character info。 He used Virgil Flowers as an action figure and Rae as a sex object。 Lucas had no characterization in the second half of the book。 He was mainly on the phone or watching events。 。。。more

I loved seeing Virgil & Lucas team up。 It was not hard to imagine Virgil rocking his stoner diver undercover persona。

A Winning CombinationJohn Sanford has done it again。 Love when Virgil and Lucas chase down the bad guys together。 Also glad Rae joined them again。

Always fun to read a Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers book， but both in one novel is over the top！

Not the best in the series， but a solid entry。 Virgil Flowers comes in late in the book， but he does show up。 Long set up for the crime。 Twisty plot， as always。

I discovered both series as audiobooks during the pandemic， and Virgil Flowers became my guy。 Man， I adore "that f***ing Flowers。" What's not to love about a preacher's son who looks like a surfer dude， talks to God before going to sleep， and always 'forgets' to carry his gun？ This book however， felt more of Lucas' story， but that could have been because I didn't quite gel with the way the narrator read Virgil。 （To me， Eric Conger is the voice of Virgil。） As with both series， the dialogue and in I discovered both series as audiobooks during the pandemic， and Virgil Flowers became my guy。 Man， I adore "that f***ing Flowers。" What's not to love about a preacher's son who looks like a surfer dude， talks to God before going to sleep， and always 'forgets' to carry his gun？ This book however， felt more of Lucas' story， but that could have been because I didn't quite gel with the way the narrator read Virgil。 （To me， Eric Conger is the voice of Virgil。） As with both series， the dialogue and interactions between the cops is fast and snappy。 Loved it。 Rae was a fantastic female character， and I hope we see here again。 Not my favorite in either series， but just to have Lucas and Virgil in the same book felt like a win。 。。。more

This is a Super Prey book。 Not only is the scope pretty big， it also features Davenport and Flowers working together。 Granted， a lot of other Sandford books team them up but not as extensively as this one。 They're both the main characters， which has up until now been unusual。 Once again， Sandford hits it out of the park。 It lacks the usual moment when Davenport figures something out， and the action heightens until the end， but in this case I didn't mind。 Everything worked out pretty well as far This is a Super Prey book。 Not only is the scope pretty big， it also features Davenport and Flowers working together。 Granted， a lot of other Sandford books team them up but not as extensively as this one。 They're both the main characters， which has up until now been unusual。 Once again， Sandford hits it out of the park。 It lacks the usual moment when Davenport figures something out， and the action heightens until the end， but in this case I didn't mind。 Everything worked out pretty well as far as I'm concerned。 There is even a short nonfiction piece at the end by the author。 I'm trying to think of another time he's done this， and I'm coming up blank。 I know only a few basics about Sandford himself， and it was good to get a peek into his mind when he's just being himself。 I've met him several times， and this afterword taught me a lot more about him。 All in all， you can't go wrong with a Sandford book。 Highly recommended。Also， this book reminds you of how a Sandford character can die unexpectedly and with very little lead up to it。 Never forget that no matter how down to earth he seems， there is a part of him that is absolutely ruthless。 。。。more
